Exploring Science and Math with Dash the Robot

No votes have been submitted yet.

The lesson is designed to engage 3rd-grade students in hands-on exploration of scientific and mathematical concepts using the Dash robot. The lesson aligns with the Arizona Science Standards for 3rd grade.

Students will be introduced to the Dash robot, followed by students programming it to navigate the classroom and avoid obstacles.

Next, students explore the science concept of forces and motion by programming Dash to navigate a simple student created obstacle course. They observe and discuss the forces acting on Dash and how they affect its motion, incorporating concepts like speed, distance, and direction.

Math concepts will also be explored in this lesson by measuring the lengths of various objects and distance using Dash as a measuring tool, all whilst programming Dash to traverse the objects and count the number of robot lengths. Students then record their measurements and discuss any variations in results.
