Learning Through Leaf Packs: Data Analysis and the Leaf Pack Network (Lesson 5 of 8)
This is an 8-lesson unit that is designed to be used together to learn about the health and diversity of your local watershed by placing leaf packs into a water source (natural or man-made ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers) and attracting macroinvertebrates. This is lesson 5 of 8. Links to lessons and resources are included.
In this engaging lesson, students will take the tally from the leaf pack dissection (Lesson 4), consolidate it, and make sense of the data. They can also access the Leaf Pack Network which has historical data for them to analyze. Your students can add your classroom data to Leaf Pack Network once you sign up with the program. It is free! Students then create graphs using graph paper or by using technology. They analyze the data and answer a research question using evidence.
