OMG! Empirical Formulas
Students will discover the Empirical Formula for the synthesis of Magnesium and Oxygen through a laboratory experiment in which they will react Magnesium Ribbon with atmospheric Oxygen by super heating the ribbon in a crucible over a bunsen burner. This introductory phenomena based lab helps guide students through the steps for Empirical Formula calculations with their own laboratory data.
