Measure a Habitat

No votes have been submitted yet.
This lesson focuses on animal habitats, as well as nonstandard unit measuring and data tables! The students will research an animal of their choice and identify what it needs in its habitat, as well as what natural resources may be present there. The students will participate in the engineering design process in order to make an animal’s habitat from natural resources that may be in their environment. The students will create a data table out of the materials they use to create their habitat. Also, students will measure the height and length of their habitat by using a shorter object found in the classroom. Finally, students will write about how their animal survives in their habitat and set up a gallery walk of their creations and writing.
