Magnetic Marble Run: Advanced Build - Day 2
In this lesson, students will apply their knowledge from the prior day's lesson (Magnetic Marble Run Newton's Laws of Motion Day 1), to complete an Advanced Build of a Magnetic Marble Run. This lesson focuses on defining and applying friction and perpetual motion to an advanced marble run build. Students work in small groups to apply the laws of physics, engineering problem-solving skills, and team collaboration in building their advanced marble run. Students will provide a detailed analysis of the marble run iterations in order to present a concrete representation of their problem-solving skills and collaboration. This build requires a higher level of creativity, physical science skills, engineering skills, and collaboration than the Day 1 beginner build. Once the students have a better understanding of how to build marble runs, you can run a lesson where each group designs a run on their own.
