Longitudinal and Transverse Waves
In this creative lesson, students will use a slinky to model two types of waves: longitudinal/compression waves and transverse waves. Through class exploration, students will first practice making the motion/shape of each wave and then explore how different speeds change the wave. This lesson proceeds a lesson where students find, measure and calculate the velocity of a wave they create. At the end of this lesson, students will be able to define and identify compression/longitudinal and transverse waves and identify the key components in a wave.

In this engaging lesson, students will model a standing transverse wave using a slinky and collect measurements to find the amplitude, wavelength, and frequency of their wave in order to calculate the
In this lesson, students use their knowledge of electric power to design a model circuit that expends less electrical power. They do this by using the PhET Circuit Construction Kit: DC and they may
The purpose of this lesson is to introduce and apply the concept of frequency. Students will begin by a motivating “click the mouse” challenge. This will help them to develop the concept of frequency
