The Invisible Secret: Patriot Spies of the American Revolution
In 5th grade Social Studies we learn about the American Revolution and study evidence of Espionage used by the Patriots to win the Revolution. Prior to the activity students will read a variety of resources to learn and build background knowledge about the time period. Students will also use what they know about chemical reactions.
This STEM activity has students research and create a spy document using techniques used in the war
They have to use evidence and create the best solution for invisible ink using materials found in the 18th century.
Students will test three invisible ink recipes and determine which is the most effective in creating a spy message for George Washington
