Favorite Fish
This lesson is designed for students to explore the idea of natural selection using a popular food item: goldfish crackers! Students explore the idea that populations of organisms can be affected by and respond to changes in the environment. It also helps students to see that natural selection is a process that happens over a longer period of time and a number of generations. The lesson also contains a case study on the peppered moth, a famous example of natural selection. In addition, this activity can also help demonstrate the impact of invasive species on native populations.
