Creative Animal Adaptations
In this lesson, students create a brand new species of animal! Designed to be an end-of-unit activity after students have learned about different environments and animal adaptations, students will design a new animal adapted to a brand new environment. This lesson combines life science and technology and allows students to get creative while demonstrating their knowledge of animal adaptations and building technology skills.

By the end of this lesson, students will understand the unique adaptations of desert tortoises and the importance of conserving their habitat. Students also engineer a habitat for the desert tortoise.
Students will use engineering skills, critical thinking, math and balance, and collaboration to build a home for a visiting Hedgehog. The materials are straws, string, wooden blocks, material/fabric
