Be the Captain!
This lesson, adapted from NOAA, focuses on tides. Students pretend to be a ship captain delivering materials to a construction company. However, their ship must go under a bridge. Students must find out when the best time is to deliver that materials to the construction company. This lesson focuses on students collecting and analyzing data to develop a model of tides. They will then write a report to the construction company explaining their delivery date. This lesson involves the use of excel/google sheets.
